The T-Cross originally joined the Volkswagen SUV lineup in 2018. Of course, only a second generation of the model was released in this time.

It currently sits near the bottom of the VW SUV lineup. This puts it next to the Taigo/Nivius and beneath the T-Roc, depending on the region in question.

Because the T-Cross shares a lot of similarities with the VW Polo, it certainly should be placed near the bottom of the lineup.

It has also been sold under the name of the VW Tacqua since 2018. However, this is only for the Chinese market.

There have been a wide array of trim levels for the T-Cross because of how many regions it is sold in. The most notable of these include the S, SE, SEL, and finally the premium R-Line.

These can also be called the Comfort, Comfortline, and R-Line.

The T-Cross has gone up with a number of notable rivals in the subcompact crossover class. These include rivals like the Ford Puma, Peugeot 2008, and Renault Captur.

Powertrain options have included a variety of petrol engines, as well as a single diesel. Petrol versions range from a 1.0 L inline-3 through to a 1.6 L inline-4. The only diesel engine is a 1.6 L inline-4.

These have been coupled with a 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed automatic, or a 7-speed DSG.

While not the most popular of the VW lineup, VW has stated that T-Cross sales are rising. This may be a clear indicator that an EV version will be released in the near future.
