The Volkswagen Atlas is also known as the Teramont in many markets outside of North America.

It is a mid-size crossover SUV built using the MQB platform that also underpins many other models from the Golf through to the T-Roc.

Assembly of the model takes place in the USA as well as China to effectively target each of the huge markets separately.

Production began of the Atlas in 2017 for the 2018 model year and by default, the car is front-wheel-drive although you can upgrade to four-wheel-drive during purchase.

That four-wheel-drive system is known as 4Motion and is the company’s own in-house developed drivetrain that they also offer on other models such as the Passat.

Inside the car is a range of modern technologies including a touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity for Android and Apple devices.

Alongside the technology is useful features that help the car appeal to families including 17 cup-holders and a third row of seating.

If you would rather have a shorter version with just two rows of seating then you can also opt for the Atlas Cross Sport.

This shorter version is also known as the Teramont X and the Teramont Cross Sport.

In terms of appearance, the shorter Atlas has a sloped rear window and boot area and shares the same wheelbase as the normal model.
