Originally the first-generation Nissan Qashqai was known as the Dualis in Japan and Australia.

The Japanese automaker adopted the Qashqai for all markets as the line moved into its second generation in 2013.

With this move the car was dropped from Japan and rebranded completely for America, now being called the Rogue Sport in that region.

It is priced lower than the normal Rogue (a model that does very well in the USA) and is only offered with the 2-liter engine option.

Inside the American version of the car, you can find many more features as standard including keyless entry and Bluetooth that can connect to mobile devices.

To create the original Qashqai, Nissan took the C platform and stuck a subcompact SUV body on top of it.

You can find this C platform at work under many Nissans and Renaults – including the Megane, Sentra and the X-Trail.

For the second generation, the Qashqai was moved onto the CMF-CD platform that is found under newer versions of the same sort of models as before.

Both generations were classed as compact crossover SUVs and slotted above the smaller Juke, a subcompact version of the range.

For the 2017 model year, a facelifted version of the Qashqai was released that is being produced at the company’s UK plant.
