The Kia Soul was the first subcompact crossover SUV from the South Korean automaker.

In 2019 the company released another similar model called the Seltos that sells alongside this one and is slightly larger.

It was launched in 2008 and quickly won an army of fans who wanted a small yet practical car.

Underneath is the same small car platform used under the Venga and the Hyundai i20.

Kia managed to add many space-saving features inside of the car with seating that can fold away to make way for more cargo.

Engine choices ranged from 1.6-liter through to 2-liter in the original Soul.

In 2013 a second-generation model came into production with many of the same drivetrain options.

This new car was slightly larger and longer with improved rigidity and suspension.

2017 saw a facelift to the second-generation Kia Soul that added new trim and color options for those buying the car new.

A new transmission replaced the previous options – a 7-speed dual-clutch that allowed for super-fast gear changes with little momentum loss.

The third generation came into production in 2019 and now shares a platform with the Hyundai Kona.

This new version of the car was discontinued in Europe although the all-electric “EV” version continues to be sold in that continent.
