The first modern pickup truck model to be released by Jeep since 1992, the Gladiator, first made its debut in 2020.

Interestingly, the model got its name after another pickup truck that was on the market between 1962 and 1988.

It was very clear from the Gladiator’s concept unveiling that it would pay a lot of respect to this and the Jeep Wrangler. Interestingly, this has resulted in these two models coming into direct competition with one another.

Other rivals from outside of Jeep include the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma.

Trim levels consist of the base Sport, Sport S, and Overland. These represent the typical three tiers most manufacturers employ, with the Overland being the top-tier, luxury model.

Jeep also offers a number of roof options. These range from the vinyl Sun-Rider to Freedom-Top three-piece hard piece. All of these have two tiers within each type of roof.

There are also the Mojave and Rubicon versions, which are both high-performance variants for desert racing and off-road capabilities respectively. These versions were intended to replace the Trailhawk trim that is fairly commonly found in most of Jeep’s other offerings.

There have been a number of special editions for the Gladiator, particularly for such a new model. The most notable of these include the Rubicon Lanche Edition, North Edition, Altitude, and High Altitude Editions, Willys Edition, and finally the Texas Trail Edition.

Jeep has only offered a single petrol and a single diesel option when it comes to powertrains. These are a 3.6 L V6 and a turbocharged 3.0 L V6 respectively.

These have been coupled with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic depending on trim level.
