The Pathfinder first made its debut almost 40 years ago in 1985. Since then, there have been a total of five generations. The latest of these iterations was unveiled in 2021.
Prior to this, the latest update for the model came in 2019.
The Pathfinder shares a number of similarities with the Navara, which is also called the Frontier depending on the region it is sold. The primary difference between the two is that the former features the typical SUV layout, while the latter is a pickup truck.
Other rivals have typically come from other SUVs like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, and Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
There have been a number of different trim levels for the Pathfinder based on where it is being manufactured and the generation in question. For the latest generation, these have typically consisted of the base S, followed by SV, SL, and finally Platinum.
There are also some special edition versions, like the Rock Creed Edition which was unveiled in 2022.
These are offered in both FWD as standard for the lower models and AWD as an optional extra for these trims. Of course, the upper trim levels like the Platinum come with AWD as standard.
There have been only a few engines offered over the years, but these have been streamlined with each generation. With the release of the fourth generation in 2012, Nissan debuted a total of four powertrains. However, only a petrol 3.5 L V6 is offered with the latest iteration.
This new engine has been coupled exclusively with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Nissan did offer an MHEV powertrain back in the fourth generation, but this was discontinued in 2014 because of poor mileage.
