The Galaxy seven-seater first made its debut in 1995. It then remained on the market until its eventual discontinuation in 2023. Of course, the decreasing popularity of MPVs was one of the main reasons it was retired.

During its time on the market, only three generations were released. The latest and final of these was unveiled in 2015. It then received two updates, which represented the final changes to the model before its retirement.

The Galaxy shares a number of similarities with another Ford model, the S-Max, which actually is considered to be its sibling. This has even led to competition between the two models.

Competitors from outside manufacturers have typically included the VW Touran, Citroen Grand C4 Spacetourer, and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.

Ford released three fairly standard trim levels for the Galaxy. These consisted of the Zetec, Titanium, and Titanium X.

While these are typically trim levels that are found at the higher-end of Ford’s lineup, this could have been a deliberate choice to emphasize comfort for the seven-seater MPV.

Powertrains for the three generations all fell within the same size for the most part. These engines, which included both diesel and petrol options, sat between a 1.5 L inline-4 and a 2.3 L inline-4. However, there were outliers like the 2.8 L VR6 and 2.5 L inline-4 hybrid that were found with very limited options.

These engines were mated with various 6-speed engines. Of course, these included the standard manual and automatic options, but there were also options like the DCT and CVT.
