The Trax first made its debut in 2013 as it entered the subcompact crossover SUV segment. Since that time, there have been only two generations. The latest of these was revealed in 2023.

Despite boasting only two generations, it did receive a mid-cycle facelift in 2017.

Like so common with a variety of Chevy models, it has been sold under a number of names. These include the Holden Trax and Chevrolet Tracker. Interestingly, these versions were both discontinued in 2020. There has also been the Chevrolet Seeker that was unveiled in 2022.

The Tracker name actually represents the predecessor model for the Trax, but only for the Americas.

The first-gen Trax was offered in three trim levels. These are the base LS, followed by LT, and LTZ.

Since the release of the second-gen model, trim options consist of the base LS, followed by the 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

As a 5-door compact crossover, it has usually faced competition from models like the Mazda CX-30, Kia Soul, and Honda HR-V.

Chevy has offered an array of engines over the course of its two generations. The first petrol engines ranged from a 1.4 L inline-4 through to a 1.8 L inline-4, while diesel offerings consisted of either 1.6 L inline-4 or a 1.7 L inline-4.

These were streamlined massively with the release of the second generation, now offering only a turbocharged 1.2 L inline-3.

These have been fitted with either a 5-speed or 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. However, the manual options were also dropped with the release of the latest generation.
